Jan Ekstedt founded the Seattle String Quartet and our other ensembles in 1999, and the years following.  He and his wife, Elaine, created Ekstedt Entertainment and the Seattle String Quartet to help put him through seminary.   He received a Master's of Divinity degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, studying  theology and psychotherapy at Western's branch campus, Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle, WA.   In 2005 he was ordained with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the First Christian Church of  Kent, WA.

He is presently the Senior Pastor at New Hope Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas.  His wife, Elaine, continues to book the fabulous musicians that were drawn together to form the Seattle String Quartet and all the other musical offerings as an Internet business from their home in Wichita and works part-time for the Christian Church in Kansas.

Our musicians have received numerous awards while playing in the wedding and corporate markets (Please see our home page).  The Seattle String Quartet, and other Ekstedt Entertainment ensembles, can be found on the preferred vendor lists of virtually all of the major event locations in the Pacific Northwest, as well as the best  wedding vendors and consultants.  Elaine and Jan travel often to Seattle to be involved with their music business and stay connected with their large musical family.

At present, Elaine and Jan have formed the Wichita String Quartet.  It is their hope to bring the same level of professionalism and truly beautiful music to the greater Wichita area, as they continue to do in the Pacific Northwest.
